Glimpse – :symw:: Target player cannot play spells this turn.
(As you draw this card, you may reveal it and pay its glimpse cost.)

RE: Halcyon
Uh... that seems really good. Like... amazing good... Why not make the Glimpse, "you gain shroud until end of turn," that way they can still play spells, just not ones targeting you.

RE: Halcyon
Not really. The Glimpse effect is ok, since you need to play card raw to take advantage of it on your opponent's turn. Otherwise, they'll be playing their instants before the ability resolves anyway.

RE: Halcyon
I don't think glimpse actually works. once you draw something it is in your hand, there really is no in between, and in your hand it is considered hidden information as well as an new object from the one that was in your library. There are some old cards that deal with drawing cards like this, but there oracle texts are messy and there only done because they would play differently if they were changed. For this to work you would have to look at the top card of your library every time you were to draw a card, reveal it, play it's glimpse cause and then put it in your hand.

RE: Halcyon
we've discussed this lots
it's messy territory, but the consensus, even amonsgt dragons, is that it works nonetheless

RE: Halcyon
It's certainly not the best idea, it's one I wouldn't expect to see in realy Magic any time soon, but it's novel enough to make a few fantasy cards off. In short, I dislike it, but not enough to roast it.

Which means...what? Most people were saying that this is too powerful, so you try to disprove them by...citing a strictly worse version of it?
I don't think that it's too powerful, but that seems like a really dumb idea.

In hindsight, though I like the Glimpse mechanic, I don't like it on this card. It detracts from it.
I actually think that Silence is a better card because it effects all opponents.

I am agreeing with the dragon in the room. I actually think it is a cool mechanic, but the logistics of it makes it a nightmare that unless there is some rule change or something leaves this probably best left for the fantasy realm.
